iNtegrate 2 Project Update

Thank you all for the many emails and phone calls from people throughout your campuses, asking for information about where we are with iNtegrate 2 implementation.  There is amazing enthusiasm throughout NSHE and excitement about beginning.

We hope this email serves as a bit of information for your iNtegrate 2 campus teams about what has happened so far, what we are working on and next steps. We would ask you to please forward this information out through your campus communication channels to campus team members.  Thank you.

I will begin by reminding everyone that project ‘activities’ have begun only over the last two weeks, after our first planning discussion with Sierra-Cedar.  We are still learning ourselves and are still in the early stages of getting organized.  As more is completed, we will be sharing information with the iNtegrate 2 campus teams.

Here are some highlights of events to date:

  • NSHE successfully negotiated and signed contracts with Workday and Sierra-Cedar, Inc. on January 29, 2015, per the directives of the Board of Regents at their meeting on October 22, 2014.
  • Matt Garland and Michael Bakker were announced as the iNtegrate 2 Core team HR Lead and Technical Lead, respectively.  John Doetch has agreed to step into the role of the Payroll Lead for the project.
  • Finally, two weeks ago, on February 18, the NSHE Core Team leads had a 2-1/2 day planning session with SCI to help understand more about how the project activities will be rolled out, to begin to solicit names of campus leads and other subject matter experts, to understand and begin to craft a high-level implementation timeline to share, to identify education and schedule on-site Workday education classes for the team, and to begin to draft a charter to outline the scope and the expectations for the project, as well as a communication plan.
  • The NSHE Core team is actively searching for new Business Analyst roles for iNtegrate 2 and a Director for iNtegrate 2 Communication.  Those openings are posted on the System website.  In addition, positions for a Training Coordinator and a team of trainers will also be posted soon.
  • The NSHE Executive Steering Committee met with the Campus Executives Committee (CEC), that was formed as part of the project governance structure.  The CEC is composed of a named executive from each institution that will serve as a vocal and visible project champion for your campus, will keep abreast of major project activities, will help ensure campus resources are available and obstacles removed, and will act as a catalyst for businesstransformation through all phases of deployment and once in production.

Next Steps:

  • A system-wide video conference to introduce the project and provide more detail on topics like the implementation timeline, teams and education, to name a few, is being scheduled for March 17.  You should be receiving additional information from your iNtegrate 2 project director in a separate email.
  • The core team will formally be collecting names from your campuses to help organize and begin to communicate and arrange necessary education for the subject area teams that will review, design, test and ultimately implement our new business processes. A meeting schedule will also be developed.
  • A special strategic discussion with campus controllers and budget officers is scheduled for March 17-19, prior to the implementation activities starting, to respond to campus requests to revisit the Financial Data Model/Chart of Accounts for NSHE moving forward.
  • The iNtegrate 2 website is being updated with current committee, calendar and other information on Workday education and project activities.  Please visit it to find out more about scheduled activities.  integrate2.nevada.edu

We hope this has provided some information to help you understand what is happening in this early project planning stage.  As activities ramp up and new information is available, we will provide additional updates.

If you have questions, please visit the iNtegrate 2 website for the email and telephone information that will get you to the project group for a response.  Thank you.
